It's Sunday evening - should I have a third Manhattan, or a second Gimlet?

Tonight was the first time I ever had a Gimlet - not bad! I was surprised. I didn't think I'd like them, but golly, I liked!

But since the Packers are sucking hind tit - no, scratch that, they're not sucking any tit at all - I'm not sure what to go with.

I can't drink anymore! So have mine.
My preferred poison: white wine.

2. How do you make your Gimlet?

Do you use Rose's lime juice or fresh lime juice or what?
I'd like to try one but I don't like sweet. Advice?

3. There is only one way to make a Gimlet

That's with Rose's lime juice.

If you use only fresh lime juice, it's a Gimblet.

But then, there are all the variations in between, that still make a Gimlet - Rose's lime juice in normal proportions, but then squeeze a lime quarter into it and throw in the lime quarter; or add some bitters; or go half Rose's and half fresh juice; etc.

It's one of those drinks that can made in a wide variety of ways.

Since I've only made the one so far, I'm no expert on the taste (though I know the history). I used only Rose's lime, but squeezed in a lime eighth (and threw away the lime; didn't put it in the drink,since the lime was a number of weeks old and I didn't trust the rind, even though the juice was still just fine) and added 2 drops of bitters before shaking madly and straining into a cocktail glass.

7. Vodka or gin?

When I was young I lived on gin gimlets. They're hard to order after 8 of them though. "I'd like another gimmjmmlt." *waving empty glass*
