I'm ticked off!
I'm searching for a landscaper to trim my trees and bushes in my yard, so I found someone in the neighborhood who does this. He gave me an estimate, said he would do it last week, we agreed on the price, but he never showed. Just ticked that I got up early, dressed, made sure the poop was picked up (and it was so cold outside) he never showed. So I gave him the benefit of the doubt and did this everyday last week, he never came. I thought it was rude that he never called. My yard looks like a jungle now with all the rain we received, I love it but my Homeowners Association does not like it. It is great looking out my window seeing the green especially here in Az. Is there anyone in the Phoenix area who knows of a reasonable priced landscaper?

I let him know that I had two indoor cockerspaniels, just give a call before he comes and I will be sure they are in the house. Just warned them to close the gate to my yard as the dogs will explore out of the yard. I've never had a problem before except for the landscaper who one of their hired had to poop in my yard. That was the end of them. I'll clean up after my senior babies, not after a human.

The prices for landscaping is crazy -- estimates were from $25.00 to $700.00. I would do this myself but have a bad back, live by myself and do not have the equipment. If I fell from a ladder, no one would know for days.

I am so disappointed.

I'm just blowing off steam, so aggravated right now.

2. How often do you need someone?
I'm in the Valley, and we have a company that comes monthly. Personally, I think monthly is too frequent, but a lot of our landscaping was done last summer so we wanted someone to come frequently and make sure all was well, but now that it's taken hold I think quarterly will be enough. The company we use is a bit pricey, but I have the name of another person I can PM you with. He doesn't speak a lot of English and likes to be paid in cash. He was pretty reliable, but didn't always show when he said he would, but usually called or came the next day. Very nice guy.

Lack of reliability is a problem we've run into time and time again here, which is why we signed a contract for a landscaper to come on a scheduled day.

We recently ran into a similar problem with a carpet guy. He was supposed to come on a specific day and never showed or bothered to call. I usually don't waste my time with losers like him again.

A human actually took a dump in your yard? That's disgusting! :puke:

4. Not very often
I would say once every two or three months during the spring and summer, during the winter rarely but I've not had my yard done probably since June. That sounds find to me, monthly trimming is killing everything in my yard, but I have trees that drop
leaves consistently during the summer. Have you heard of the African Sumac? Cleaning up the leaves during the summer is the only reason I would need someone during the heat. Hey, I just have a little garden home - 2 bedrooms and a yard large enough for my two senior cockers to run and bark, that is all.

Please send me an email, my yard is a jungle right now.

5. In addition
I could probably if the person is Mexican or Hispani drum up some business for them. I'm obviously not their culture, but I'll try to drum up some business if they need it.

10. I PM'd you.
I find I need a landscaper just before and/or during monsoon season. Last year we lost a good chunk of one of our trees in front of our house to the wind. Despite trimming by the landscapers, we lost a good-sized branch during every major storm. The tree is now in the "flat top" category, but it's still standing. If we hadn't had it trimmed, the whole thing would probably be gone. We did lose a nice Palo Verde last summer. It's toward the rear of the yard in the section we leave to nature.

I'm not familiar with the African Sumac. We've only lived here a few years, so I'm not familiar with all the trees commonly planted here. I'm still learning. :dunce:

7. Yep
he took a dump in my yard... my bug man was shocked. I didn't notice it because of where it was done... they were of course not allowed back. Sad to say, they were really good too.

11. That is so gross.
Is your yard fenced with a block wall? I can't imagine anyone doing that out in the open.

9. Did you try to call him back?
Some people are flaky that way and maybe he just forgot.
