My friend is a really good singer (and one of those Likud types) and she was singing at a very pro-Israel fundraiser and I went to watch her sing....she really is a kick ass singer (SHe was in NY's Les Mis).....the whole place was several hundred far right Jews - I never saw anything like it since most Jews are liberals....whew...bashing Europe as presenting a one-sided view of the Palestinians....bashing Europe because the Europeans compare Sharon to Hitler....bashing the European socialistic ideals and how wonderful we are because we are philanthropic (They say there is no philanthropy in Europe)...bashing muslims of course...bashing liberals as being in bed with radical Islam...It was rough being there...I just kept my mouth shut....

They were all paying $250 a plate for the affair and promoting www.standwithus.com

Bashing liberal universities and the misinformation they spread about Israel...

SO why were European Jews entitled to Palestine again? That is the part I do not get....I blame the British for the whole mess actually. Though I grew up Jewish, I never felt any identification with Judaism religiously or culturally. So I have to make it clear, there's alot I don't know.

My hun's business partner is a rabid righty. well, I just think the praise-god-ers are being slightly *ahem* disingenuous in their crowing about protecting and cherishing our jewish friends.

Isn't there some crap in the bible about the Temple falling and that's when christ's followers will know they have won the battle? A lot of Christian fundies would be very upset if their son/daughter married a jew...Christians in the US have given the Jews shit all the time....but for some reason they are pro-Israel....basically they are just following what the TV tells them to do with Israel.

I forgot to mention that I am half Jewish and half irish...my mother's side is the Jewish side so I guess there are some that consider me 100% Jewish. I don't really identify with it religiously or culturally much like you....I am purely assimilated as an American. I should know more about the culture though...the history goes back a long way and I am fascinated by ancient history.

I was recently in Ireland too for the first time and it was cool to learn about some of the ancient sites of Ireland.
