Woman Runs Down Teen Boys After Bouncing Golf Ball Hits Her SUV
<snip>

A Chevrolet Blazer hurtled through a strip center parking lot Sunday in what investigators said was an intentional pursuit that gravely injured a 14-year-old St. Augustine boy run down as he tried to escape with his brothers.

A 47-year-old St. Johns County woman has been charged with three counts of attempted murder after an investigation by the St. Johns County Sheriff's Office.

One witness, Russell McPhee, of St. Augustine, said he watched the Blazer accelerate through the parking lot of the West Gate Plaza on the outskirts of St. Augustine on Sunday afternoon.

"She charged them," he said. "This was the most deliberate act."

Police are investigating if Kathy Feaganes Allen of the 1100 block of South Scenic Way in St. Augustine acted out of road rage or was under the influence of drugs or alcohol, Deputy Ricky Domingo said.

According to investigators, Isiah Grayer, 14, and his brothers were bouncing a golf ball in the parking lot about 2:45 p.m. when the ball got away from them and hit the Blazer as it drove through the parking lot. Deputy Greg Suchy said no damage was done, and the boys apologized and began to walk away.

Suchy said the woman started to drive away before making a U-turn.

"She veered through the parking lot and jumped the curb and hit two of them and hit a pole," Suchy said. He said the Blazer barrelled over another curb and headed toward the third boy, but he was not hit.

Isiah Grayer was with twins Justin and Jamel Marshman, 16, whom Suchy described as Isiah Grayer's stepbrothers. The boys live in the 1100 block of North Clay Street, St. Augustine.

The Chevy Blazer driven by Kathy Feaganes Allen, 47, of St. Augustine, rests where it was wrecked after two boys were hit in a shopping center parking lot.

Isiah Grayer has massive brain injuries and was in critical condition Sunday night at Shands Jacksonville, Suchy said. Justin Marshman was alongside Isiah Grayer and had minor injuries. He was treated at Flagler Hospital.

Allen, of the 1400 block of South Scenic Way, St. Augustine, was arrested at the scene, where she waited after running the Blazer into a ditch, Suchy said.

He said some of Isiah Grayer's family was at the hospital Sunday.

5. 30 years, no parole
When the paint job on your SUV is more important than human life, I think you should have lots and lots of time to sit and think about your priorities.

6. It's MINE! MIIIINNEEE! YOU CAN'T TOUCH IT!
Jeebus. Poor kids.

Okay, if someone is so freaking attached to THINGS and STUFF and all other OWNABLES that it inspires someone to hurt/maim/kill anyone else who infringes on said STUFF... well, I think it's an imprisonable offense. Unfortunately, it isn't.

But fortunately, attempted manslaughter is. Kathy Allen's going to be spending quite some time with her sisters in lockup.

12. That's just sad
All of this because why? You're upset that you think your car may have been scratched or dented? For chrissakes, these are kids.
