30. Pearl Jam's name has a cool origin

Eddie Vedder's grandmother was a Native American who made her own preserves, and laced them with peyote for his grandfather's benefit.

Her name was Pearl, and she labeled her creations "Pearl Jam". One of his earliest childhood memories were the mason jars with those labels.

Names of bands mean more with context, although I understand where you were coming from.
