and just for the record as a native Virginian (Va. Beach), I've always viewed the old line state as a non factor, and i used to live there (PG County)..I've ALWAYS saved up my hate for the infidels in NC and WV...lol

I lived there and was happy for 5 years; my ex-boyfriend and his snooty parents live in Baltimore. Besides, Virginia now has a dem. governor while Md. has a repuke. So Virginia wins by default anyway.

16. VA / MD War has been going on for two hundred years

Ever since they drew the state lines and Maryland got all of the Potomac. Most state boundaries that involve rivers are drawn right down the center of the river. Maryland's boundary is all the way up on the Virginia bank of the Potomac. Has to do with shell fishing rights. There are still disputed claims along the VA/MD line in the Chesapeake Bay. I sailed up there once with as a part of this youth sail program, on a vintage skipjack and the captain had his .38 revolver sitting right there in the pilot house. Apparently the watermen still get into shoot outs over poaching. Crazy stuff
