Stupid Product Warnings
So my daughter had cramps and I looked at the Midol package to make sure she could take it and there is a warning not to use Midol if you have an enlarged prostate!

How many people with enlarged prostates have menstrual cramps and bloating?

8. I don't know. I really don't know.
All I know is, you'd better not bring that blowdryer into bed with you.

2. Midol ...
...I believe contains more blood-thining agents than other strengths of Midol, and an enlarged prostate w/ that is not a good combo :o

12. Real reason for stupid warnings on products.
Believe it or not, find a stupid warning and behind it, you will have found a lawsuit.

No, I'm not a freeper with tort reform on my brain. I learned this in strict products liability during tort law in law school.

Some jerk probably grabbed the Midol in the assumption it was just another painkiller (not-just-for-women-only) and took it for anything but menstrual cramps. So he probably had an enlarged prostate, he got sicker because of the ingredients in Midol, he found a lawyer who didn't mind saying that his male client took Midol. And thus, either a settlement or a jury award put that otherwise unnecessary warning on the label.

Companies don't want to add these warnings but their legal departments have prevailed to remove one more risk of liability by unexpected consumers.

13. The driver's seat of my car
has a warning not to install a rear-facing car seat there- because of the airbag. I figured it was a bad idea because I need to sit there to drive.
