5. Hunk? To me he's a Punctuation Man |

During Bush's March 7th speech where he refused to call on Helen Thomas, John King had to be reminded that the whole thing was scripted. Even though Bush was calling on the reporters in seat order (with the exception of Helen), the reporters still raised their hands and called out even though it obvious who was going to be called next. John King overplayed his part a little too much prompting Bush to admonish him by saying "You know John, this whole thing is scripted".
When Bush finally did call on King it came at the end of the answer to the previous question. Bush obviously knew what the questions were going to be ahead of time, or he had prepared remarks for each of the reporters regardless of what question they asked. At the end of the scripted remarks was the name of the next reporter to call on.
Instead of pausing at the end of the remark, Bush ended it with a very heartfelt and sincere "John King" as if his name was part of the answer. This is why I call him Punctuation Man.
