S O L A R I S: One of the WORST. MOVIES. EVER?




I've had this movie on since about 10:30 and I still have absolutely no idea what it is about or where it's going.

1. Right on target. I kept hoping it would get so bad it would fall into
"Valley of the Dolls" territory, you know so bad its good. This one just stunk up the house. I'll never know what else I could have done for that two hours.

6. I thought I was the only one who had seen the original Russian version...
Great movie. Different from the book which is truly a can't-put-it-down read, and slow but a beautiful work of art.

7. Got me thinking, one much worse: "The Revolutionary" w/John Voight


Well, that's not Voight...but the movie totally sucked. Made you angrier with each minute. Solaris, while truly bad, did not induce a full sense of existential dread accompanied by a repressed panic.

8. Riddle me this. Stanislaw Lem wrote about 100 solid sci-fi books...
...yet for some reason, the only one Hollywood -- with its nearly infinite budgets -- can adapt for film is the one for which Tarkovsky already did a definitive version?

This remake was doomed from the second it was conceived.
