Anyone? - Dumbass DUer needs help... |
|
I've been trying to put pics in posts, but have had no success.
I realize it's probably something simple- but what am I missing?
How does one go about this?
Sincerely,
- Dumbass.

You just put the url to the pic right in your post. The pic should be hosted online, like at photobucket.com.

3. Yep, that worked. Here's what you do. |
|
If there is a picture on the web that you want to use, right click on it and then click on Properties. The URL will appear in the pop up box. Copy the URL and paste it into your Message box here. At least that's one easy way of doing it.

9. YOU ARE TRYING TO GET HIM INTO TROUBLE, AREN'T YOU?! |
|
Newbie, that is called "hotlinking" and it's NOT NICE! You should take your chosen photo and host it at photobucket or something.
/selfrighteous.
(hotlinks all day because can't be bothered to find photo hosts.)

12. Oh, I'm just kidding. |
|
But really, if you don't want to steal other people's bandwidth, you SHOULD host your photos. You know, you go to "properties", copy the URL, go to any photo hosting site, like www.photobucket.com , paste the URL in, and then photobucket will host it and you're not stealing the original person's bandwidth. Especially on a site like DU, where we're getting a ton of hits, we've been known to shut smaller sites down by linking to their photos.
But I hotlink all the time because I'm lazy. So it's up to you I guess.

I don't think that'll hurt them TOO much.
But I will keep the consideration of bandwidth in mind.
Thanks!

13. The Picture Can't Just be On your Hard Drive |
|
It needs to be hosted somewhere on the 'Net. One of the best sites I've found is www.photobucket.com. An account is free and once you store the pictures there, you can use the URLs they provide to post them here on DU.
