FRISCO, CO-December 7, 2004 — A Colorado sheriff wants to arm citizens – with radar guns.

The high-tech posse in Summit County would be gunning for speeders. But Sheriff John Minor says the volunteers won't be handing out tickets.

In fact, they wouldn't have any contact with the lead-footed drivers. Under the sheriff's plan, the speed-minders would forward the license plate numbers to the sheriff's office, which would send out letters asking the violators to slow down.

Minor says he wants to hear more community feedback before launching the radar gun program.
