I hate this time of year
short cold cloudy days, the house is dark and I'm too damn cheap to run the lights. Lights should be off in the daylight, so I get more typos this time of year.
That, and all these happy idiots parting with their money sprouting merry christmas from their lips, bah fucking humbug.

1. 8' Blow-up Grinch
I saw one at a Menard's last year and told my wife that if I put up ANY Christmas decorations it would be that one.....

Because her boss and some co-workers often walk our park area, she wouldn't let me......

It was really cool though...automatic air pump and lighted from the inside.........

5. I saw him
I'm afraid my wife would blow a gasket if I put it outside, but, if I could I'd put it out, that or a lifesize ebeneezer bearing the likeness of snarlin dick.

8. an acquaintance of mine has a neighbor
who always puts a framed picture of Ebenezer on the front of the house at Christmastime. I used to see it all the time on my way home. I think they are Reps are well. ;)

2. I hear you about the dark
It's my least favorite thing about winter, hands down. If we could have long, sunny days full of snow, winter wouldn't be so bad.

As for the 'Merry Christmas'-ing.... Just try to avoid malls and such as much as possible! 18 days and counting!

3. Oh, I hear that about 18 days
God bless you.
Now, tutti,
"You're a mean one, Mr. Grinch..."

4. I just hate all of the corporate
Edited on Tue Dec-07-04 01:05 PM by Megahurtz
advertising and their raking in the money. And all the stupid syrupy, cheery, gluttonous wealthy Bush voters driving around in their oversized selfish SUV's throwing money around like it grows on trees, while the disenfranchised poor who used to be middle class look on in bewilderment and disbelief. That really puts me in the mood........

6. I hate it too.
I have three strategies: I avoid stores and strangers as much as possible. I work in the open for an hour everyday. And at home I always have fresh flowers and lots of candles. That way springtime comes faster, really truly :)

AND I'm counting, too ;)

I count down to the first of April, and anticipate it's arrival more every year.

10. I think the trick
is to have lots of lights on or get outside frequently. Plus enjoy the earth aspect of the holiday, like music, pine boughs, candles, good food and doing nice things for yourself and others. I like baking myself.

I guess I think that we can take back the corporateness of the holiday by emphasizing the winter festival aspects and the thinking about the less fortunate as well.

9. I really hate it too
I've been very depressed lately, and the darkness and forced "good cheer" isn't exactly helping. :(
