What do you Hate I mean REALLY HATE about this time of year? |
|
For me I cannot stand parking and parking jams!
I'm at the store and I'm sitting in my car waiting for my aunt to come out. I manage by some miracle to get the Slot right beside the handicap spot. I'm in my car and I am cold so I turn the car on to warm myself up and my aunt was in the check out when I went to my car. So here comes a car (I call them lazy sharks) sees me and thinks I am pulling out and I signal I am not. The driver SITS in the way of 5 other cars one who wants to pull out and 4 others who want to go down the row. My aunt can barely get pass the hold up THEN when I try to pull out the driver will not back up to give me room to get out.
I know it's the holiday and they have a lot of shopping and packages BUT come on stop blocking traffic and making other people nervous just because you are too lazy to walk.
I've seen 2 accidents caused by this type of set up and it always ends up being the fault of the person who is waiting for the spot.
anyone else want to vent.

3. Cold weather without snow in Minnesota |
|
Somehow, cold temps seem colder when there's no snow.
When I was in Oregon, I hated rain blizzards, when its about 35-40 degrees and its raining sideways. Brrrr.

7. Conspicuous consumption of electricity in an attempt to be festive. |
|
The fu#$^%ing lights. The inflated snow things. The mechanical light reindeer. The plywood cutouts of random things.
GAH. My father is Mr. Clark Griswold himself. EVERYONE knew where Captain Politicat lived... because it could be seen for miles and doubled as the backstop for the landing strip.
Every time I see one of those grotesque houses, I want to cut their power and hand 'em a kerosene lamp.

I don't hate good cheer in of itself, I hate that at this time of year people act like it is the only time they have to be nice to people! To me, it is all false! The same people who want to strip you of your civil rights will smile in your face and wish you a Merry Christmas and holiday cheer! That just burns me up!

Christmas music. Fat laden holiday foods. Excessive consumerism. The fact that people accept that there's no productivity at work between thanksgiving and new years. Office Christmas parties. Tacky Christmas lights. All this and no snow :-(

11. the complete inability |

to simply run to the store and buy one item quickly. A trip to Target for some shampoo is a 2 hour ordeal and the damn store is practically across the street. GRRRR!

Right on.
If they can't see the lines, they aren't there. People take up two spaces and make sure they have at least five feet of clearance on either side. No car can fit except for turbo-compacts.
Thank God I had a small car for so long.

14. Endless Christmas music |
|
I swear between "Its the Most Wonderful Time of the Year" and "Rockin Around the Christmas Terr" I could blow my brains out.
I DO NOT, I repeat I DO NOT want anyone telling me to be of good cheer. I'll be of any damn mood I want to be thank you very much.

15. In the park, less than a block down the street |
|
They blast Christmas carols (the park is the city square, so they do it for the downtown shoppers) all day and night. If we are sitting down to dinner and have turned off televisions, radios and whatnot, you can hear it inside our house. Anytime it is quiet in our house, you can hear the carols from the park.

16. The utter "need" to get gifts for SO MANY PEOPLE! |
|
I refuse to do it! Not because I don't care for my co-workers or my family members to whom I'm not close. But because I can't afford it and I refuse to allow this societal requirement to be lain on my shoulders! Dammit!!

Deadlines remind me of work. This season is, in the end, about meeting deadlines. I've got shopping to do for a relatively small circle of family, and I don't mind the shopping so much, but for some reason I resent having to plan weeks in advance so that I can make sure that certain items get to certain places.
