Should I order the Laugh-in Sock-it-to-me collection?

I saw the TV advert and the show is utterly funny.

And it's late 60s, my favorite time era.

They have a money-back guarantee, which is nice.

So, you be the judge! :D

1. it was great!
it was one the only shows my friends and i gathered to watch together!

i don't know if it 'translates' to today, though.
just remember that the recurring punchlines were meant to be stupid... on purpose!
plus, you can watch goldie hawn dance in a bikini!

2. Here's the strange part
Chicks in those 60s outfits and hairstyles are downright sexy, and I'm a homo! The patterns and the clothing styles and all that were cool too, but I'm digressing.

Pity the men didn't have anything similarly sexy. :-(

It would be COOL to see a "Laugh-in" today, poking fun at modern issues. SNL lost it decades ago and MadTV's spluttering too. :-( They both lack style and they're hardly funny. Of course, everybody who knows me knows I primarily watch pre-1980 shows. They think I'm weird.

6. Weird thing
There was a Laugh-In anniversary documentary sometime in the early or mid-nineties, and they talked about the "News of the Future" bit. They showed two clips: one was "Dateline 1984" where they mention "President Ronald Reagan" to huge laughs; the other was a "Dateline 1990" reference to the Berlin Wall coming down (and being replaced by a moat full of alligators).

7. Well, Reagan was a joke...
Rather frightning, what they got right...

In 1968, the show (and a lot of people) probably thought it impossible that Reagan would become prez, for what reasons I'm not sure of (as this was before 1972, it's not because people didn't decide that repukes could never be trusted, though we know today they can never be trusted again...)

The bit about the Berlin wall being replaced by a alligator infested moat, while dated of course, is still hilarious.

8. I think nobody expected Reagan could become president
in 1968, or in 1976 when he ran against Ford (or in 1980 when he won, for some of us at least).

That's why I've been carrying this lingering paranoia about an old 1980 Doonesbury cartoon that made a joke about "President Newt Gingrich". <shudder>

3. That would be a great addition to...
My Ruth Buzzi nude photo collection!!!!!:loveya:

.......................

Just kidding.

Seriously though, a lot of Laugh-In jokes still apply today. Some of the "Fickle Finger of Fate" awards are so universal they could have been written today.

AND THE FARKEL FAMILY JUST OWNS!!

4. OMG!!!
That is outrageous! She's got the face of a bloke, but I think it's the makeup that gives the effect...

I decided to place the order. I hope it takes less than 6-8 weeks for delivery, I'm itchin' for some way-out trippy stuff that the current industry can probably learn from...
