Advocates For Abandoned Babies Win Lottery Millions
Debi Faris-Cifelli and her husband Steve, who provide funerals for dead abandoned babies and helped inspire a California law to save unwanted newborns, won the jackpot worth $27 million on Wednesday night. They plan to take their winnings in a lump sum and will get a little less than $9 million after taxes in a check that should be issued within several weeks, lottery officials said.

The couple said they would use their winnings to continue their advocacy work, possibly by starting a college scholarship fund with awards given in the names of the 70 abandoned babies Faris-Cifelli has buried at the Garden of Angels cemetery she started in Calimesa.

1. I read a Readers Digest story about Debi Faris-Cifelli some months ago...
...and remember the Garden of Angels cemetary. O8)

3. That is so wonderful!
To see people who truly deserve a reward get it, and then instead of enjoying it themselves, reinvesting it in their communities. That's selfless. I don't know what their political affiliation is, but that's still a good example for how progressives should be living.
