Is there a quick free virus scan?
My Norton is out of date (I need to re-subscribe), but it popped up a message to me that it detected a virus, but couldn't do anything about it.

WTF?

3. Well it hasn't been renewed for months and months
but it never popped up a message to me before.

Weird.

2. Uninstall your Norton, remove it utterly and completely,
and go with AVG. It's free, it's bitchin', and it won't tank your system like Norton does. And it does a hell of a lot better job than Norton, and updates more often than Norton.

I've been using it for years.

AVG. I couldn't remember the name of it. I used to use before I moved to Linux. Excellent program.

7. Thanks a bunch!
I hated Norton anyway, so that's why I hadn't renewed it.

Slack about finding a good replacement.

10. Thank you all so much!
I panicked when I got that damn pop-up from Norton about a virus, but the software suggested found nothing and it virus-scanned my computer for over an hour with no finding of a virus.
