I watched the saddest story last night about parent less children
I thought that it would be a touching story to warm my heart for the holiday season. It turned out to be an expose' of the ails of post-modern America where children are left alone and run amok suffering from the lack of caring and nurturing that only a parentS can offer.

Without making this a extremely long thread let me just mention some highlights (lowlights).

A hopeless friendless boy is the main subject who just walks around all day.

The dog begs for food.

They try to amused themselves by putting on a play but end up outside in the cold with a sad looking Christmas tree, the only one they could afford.

In a recap/follow up the main characters sister is so desperate for a tree that she steals one out of a neighbor's yard.

The whole thing was very sad.

9. Well we didn't see that part when they got caught squatting in there
Feakin' theater squatters. I'll bet that janitor gave them a stern talking to before he threw them out in the snow.

20. The saddest part about the mom
...is you NEVER saw her. It was like she wasn't even there. Those kids were totally raising themselves.

22. And the anti-semitism too
Main Character "Charlie"- I hate the commercialism of Christmas. It's all buying toys (see he is poor probably from his immoral upbringing)

"Lucy"-Well it is all run by a conglomerate on the Eastcoast

Hmmm wonder what THAT meant.

21. And the little dirty one.
...the way the other kids called him 'Pig-pen'. It was just so horrible to watch. I thought schools had a zero tolerance policy for bullying. Where were the adults?

23. The root of the problem is the trombone-voiced adults!
Edited on Wed Dec-08-04 10:56 AM by KurtNYC
These poor children need guidance and all they get from the adults is a lot of "wha - wha - whaaaa" ! It is a tragedy! Put those trombones down and talk to your children you inhuman bastards!

24. You are exactly right!
Instead of 'trumpeting' orders at them, they should speak with them.
