but I can't stand Penn's libertarian BS. He's not a dumb guy - I wish he'd read a little more.

Teller's so secretive - I have no idea what he's all about.

5. I'm a bit libertarian myself...

...so I can sympathize with Penn, but my experience with government and human nature lead me to believe libertarianism only works if everyone involved has an IQ of at least 135. And even then you'll have problems.

Teller's a fairly private person, but he does write the occasional column here and there. I met him once - I think mostly it's shyness. But I could be wrong.

3. saw them peform one time

the last act before intermissino was Penn getting in a barrel and then Teller pushed swords through the barrel. at intermission everyone in the audience was invited to pay a dollar (i think) to come and look at Penn in the barrel. i went up on stage and looked at him face to face sitting awkardly in that barrel with the swords going through it. kind of funny.

7. critical thinking

Our side wins when people think critically instead of accepting the world at face value. So I appreciate what Penn and Teller do to encourage critical thinking and discourage magical thinking.

On the other hand, I wish they would do a little more critical thinking of their own when it comes to selecting "experts" for their TV show. I don't like how they used a guy from the Cato Institute as an unquestioned source.

They have done some scathing attacks on right wing causes. I think Penn is an over the top Randian. Not that i think that's ok. But, he's not a right winger. He's just very close to out of his mind.
