We need all the candlepower of light and hope we can focus on this issue now.

Did anyone hear the Conyers "not seating Ohio electors" moment?Edited on Wed Dec-08-04 11:20 AM by DancingBear
When Jesse Jackson Jr. wondered if anyone on the committee was considering rising up in objection to the seating of the Ohio electoral delegates, Conyers replied (paraphrasing) "We are now."

I almost drove the car off the road when I heard it - I thought it was a HUGE statement.

Does anyone else here agree, or am I reading too much into it?
Couple this with the fact that a Congressional delegation WILL be going to Ohio, and I thought this was a very productive day.

Thoughts??

1. Yes, that's huge
Conyers has some guts. He may just have secured hero status with his electorate.

3. HUGE! This may be just as important: researchers, read up!
A citizen spoke up and said that in 15 red states, there is no law requiring electors vote for the candidate who won the state's popular vote, only tradition. "We can win this election legally, simply by having electors vote for Kerry," he said, or words along that line.

Conyers looked stunned, then said, "This is the most amazing proposition ever put forward by a non-lawyer" and added it was definitely something to consider if true.

So...Researchers, someone quick find out which red states those are, and if this statement is true. Can you also post a list of the electors for those states, and how we can contact them to let them know this?

somewhere safe now. This is our last best hope.

With pathos (and hope, too, of course),
that old thread self-kicking son of a Soaring Hawk, SH

PS - click on the link at the top and learn what Conyers and allies have done today...it is noteworthy.
