5. I used to be a die-hard Vikings, T-Wolves and Wpg. Jets fan...

...but I've toned down my fanaticism in recent years. I'm still a devoted fan, and I watch EVERY game they play, of course (except for the Jets, in which I BAWLED my eyes out when they moved). I will always love the Vikings and Wolves, but the extreme fanaticism isn't there anymore. I'm still a casual viewer of the Wild, cause I still haven't got used to them yet. But I think I'll develop a bond with them over time.

8. Former Red Sox believer

from 1986 to about 1990, I was totally smitten, waiting for their year. Before then, I was barely even a casual fan. But I got hooked on the Sox early in the 1986 season, which everyone in New England will remember as their last shot at the big ring. They had some close calls in the next few seasons then sank into mediocrity. I moved to NY, caught a tiny bit of Yankees fever--RS fans will be shocked to hear--in the early 1990s. You have to remember, though, New Englanders, that Wade Boggs and Roger Clemens came to town, so it wasn't that much of a stretch. And I'll tell you something else, guys...they actually won a whole bunch of series. That feels really good. You have no idea. Please don't hate me, though. I've lost Yankees fever, too, right around the time I began to notice a new lump-in-the-throat story each year they were creaming everybody else, as though they needed some humanizing something to disguise their cold-bloodedness.

I fall in love with teams I get to know, like the Sox of the 1980s and the Yankees of the 1990s. The Celtics of the early 1980s. The Knicks of the early 1990s.

But I'm not really all that much of a sports fan. These days.

when the clubs priced me out of actually attending the game, and although I might catch a play or two on TV, I'm feeling pretty nasty toward the advertisers that have helped to cause the former situation not to mention the absurd salaries, for what, a game. Break your neck on the field or get slammed by a semi- on a 100-mile commute to the job for a whole lost less seems an equal risk to me. These "super-athletes" have not in recent memory provided healthy role models to our adolescents - are they so BORED with all that dough??? They also seem to be the target for other golddiggers and eyewinkers, and don't have enough sense to back away!

First growing up in Nebraska and the annoyingness (is that a word?) of "Go Big Red" and other such Cornhusker sayings all the time (they live for football in that state- I don't).

...they are a system team. The parts seem interchangeable.

True, Culpepper and Frerotte have totally different styles. Pep is mroe physical (see him blocking Moe Williams?) and even runs the ball (which led to the injury). Frerotte, on the other hand, is more of a pocket passer. He just chucks the ball. He can be good, but it is a radical change.

Moss's absence is even bigger. He takes a lot of the heat off the other guys by being teamed by two or three guys, leaving even Jim Kleinsasser open for catches. Has actually had a good year (aside from stats) because he has gotten more physical. He even blocks now!

These guys seem to have quite a vast playbook, and so far they have been efficient. Let's see what they can do against a good team. I still think they'll win.

College Football:Arizona State Sun Devils

NFL Football:Arizona Cardinals and Denver Broncos, I was born in Colorado and the Broncos were the first team I connected with, now that I have lived in Arizona for the longest time in my life, the Cardinals are also my favorite team.

The only other teams I am enthusiatic about but no emotionally connected is the Pacers/Diamondbacks

I could give a rats ass about the Coyotes, I don't like Hockey.

But I've lived in Oregon the longest part of my life. You're either a Beaver or a Duck. People that can stand true suffering can understand what that used to mean for Beaver fans. Others cheer for the U of Nike...(45-24 btw duck fans).
