Anybody here know how to use the GIMP? |
|
A picture editor, like Photoshop, but open source and for UNIX. Unbelievably hard to use.
All I wanna do is put some text over a background I have prepared. It lets me enter some text, which goes into a new layer, so far so good. But then I can't do anything with it after that! I can't move it or anything!
Long shot, asking here, but you never know... there are some Linux fiends here after all.

1. GIMP takes some getting used to |

I use the Windows version. To move text, click on the button that looks like a compass (a cross with arrows going in all directions). This is the move layer button. Then click on the item you wish to move and drag it where you want it to go.

3. maybe this will help..i asked a friend of mine |
|
you create the text with the text tool
then switch to the move layers & selections tool (looks like four arrows joined at the centre)
make sure the correct layer is selected, then you can move the text
you can change the text by double clicking the layer
