Where is the best place to download songs?
I hate Walmart.com (for obvious reasons) and napster and I-tunes are not compatible with my operating system (Windows ME). Are there any others????

4. can you even get it anymore?
Every site I've seen has been taken over by that company that sets up dupe sites to make people buy things that they don't own and are really free. (The same guys who made suprnova.com/.net mimicing the real .org). Is there a real one left anymore?

2. Legal or otherwise?
If you're comfortable with the latter category, may I suggest Limewire.

6. I stay away from P2P altogether....try the Usenet instead.
You don't always find what you are looking for in there, but it's less risky.

8. Don't Touch Kazaa!
Edited on Thu Dec-09-04 05:38 PM by On Par
No offense to the other poster, but Kazaa downloads all types of spyware/adware, pop-ups, and other programs you don't want, that it's not worth the time and effort. It's enough to bog your computer down to where you need to re-format the harddrive. I know, it happened to me.

I've found bearshare.com the FREE version to be the best. And even with that, you need a firewall to deny access to "weathercast" and one other program (I forget the name) they want to include on their download.

11. Shareaza
Is pretty good. Kind of slow, but the quality is not too bad. Especially because the files can be rated by users, so you usually can seperate the bogus from the real ones.
