1. Yuck!
Those pink little paws are ugly. What really freaks me out is the long skinny tail. I scream like a little girl whenever I see a rat or a mouse. (My cats will sometimes show me their catch.)

2. Here's 1 of 4 we have hanging with a buddy....
That's Fancy and his friend Pumpkin...you can see it in her eyes, "I wanna take a bite, but I know that these silly human pets I have consider this rodent a pet!"

6. It gets pretty funny around here....
we let all 4 out and they run around the couch, taking little food stuffs we give them. They get real brave playing little rat games, and then our other cat will be eye balling them. You can see his haunches start to stiffen, he'll make a half assed ludge toward them, and they scatter like 90!!! Straight back to the safety of their cage! LOL

5. This segues into what I learned today
Since I work for a pest control company, and am studying....

The two most common rats found in the US are the Norway rat and the roof fat. The Norway rat is the larger of the two, has shaggy fur and a tail thats light on the bottom, dark on top. The roof rat is a bit smaller, has sleek fur, and a completely dark tail. To eradicate rats from a building, make sure to eliminate food/harborage. Make sure garbage is placed in rodent proof cans. Make sure that vegetation is trimmed around the building, and woodpiles are up off the ground. Make sure that there are no gaps in doors, windows, and on the roof. Bait stations or traps should be placed in rat runways 15-20 feet apart.

Not bad for remembering without notes.

8. This is my nightmare thread!
I have an absolute dread of rats ... I used to live in NYC and it freaked me out to see them running across the subway tracks. I'm convinced that's part of the reason I moved!

12. Not if youcount the human variety
but, strangely enough, one of the communities most affected by actual rodents is Beverly Hills ...
