freshman year, my roommate and I made a high caliber one with PBC pipe. Each shot used about a quarter bottle of butane. We used frozen potatoes, since they'd do the most damage. We did one shot straight up; it took over 30 seconds to come back down.

My friends once made a wide enough caliber for a roll of toilet paper. The TPG was awesome. One night we saw some dudes fighting outside of a party. We loaded the TPG and fired it at the house. It landed - flaming - on the doorstep. A drive by.

In retrospect, yes it was dangerous, but it was quite fun at the time.

I had one when I was a kid. It was plastic and you would stick the end which was a small narrow piece, in a potato so that you'd have a little pellet stick in the end. Then I forget if you pumped it or what, but air pressure would shoot it. The potato pellet would stick to the wall or window or your dog's butt. It wasn't very powerful, I wouldn't have aimed it at our dog if it would have hurt. Didn't take him long to figure out they were edible bullets. :D

9. We made tennis ball cannons

Tape a bunch of soda cans together (with their tops and bottoms taken out, except for the bottom can---that just needs punctures in both ends), stuff a tennis ball in one end, put lighter fluid in the bottom can, aim, and touch a match to the keyhole. Kaboom! Man, that was fun.

PS Don't try it with gasoline if you run out of lighter fluid.

took a whole can of hair spray for one shot and it shot tennis balls, about a mile and a half
