Drunken soldiers slay caged tiger at Baghdad zoo

AP:Baghdad, Iraq - A U.S. soldier shot and killed a tiger at the Baghdad zoo after it bit another soldier who had reached through the bars of its cage to feed it, officials said Saturday.

The soldiers were drinking beer when they entered the zoo Thursday night after it closed, said Zuhair Abdul-Majeed, a security guard at the zoo.

7. I hope these men are punished for what they did

First, who is that stupid to stick their hand in a cage with a Tiger; especially one that probably hasn't been eating that well since this illegal war started. If they had food for the Tiger they should have tossed it in through the bars without putting their appendages through it.

Second there was no reason for them to kill that animal. It was obviously provoked by these soldiers. They should all be discharged dishonorably for what they have done!!!

On an edit note: All those animals should be removed from the zoo and added to a wildlife refuge somewhere. Obviously these animals are not getting the proper treatment that they need!

8. Let Me Get This Straight

They were drunk in an Islamic country that "frowns" on alcohol, having a party at a public facility, feeding the animals that would get their kid's behinds walloped at home, pissed because a caged tiger didn't appreciate "their" form of attention and was shot because a GI had an attitude?

I think those in that party need extensive counseling in a stockade somewhere; 3 to 5 years ought to adjust their attitude.

As far as the bitten soldier goes, it's too bad the tiger didn't get to make a full meal out of him.

As far as the shooting soldiers go, they should go to jail for a very long time. I hear Leavenworth has a very nice stone downsizing program that they would be perfect candidates for.
