Nobody seems to be there by accident. The survivors aren't hurt, some of them are healed. There must be some incredible source of power on the island.

I thought maybe the island might have some kind of magical healing properties but I'm just not sure. The thing with Jack's dad and Locke's situation made me think this, as did the way Claire's baby started moving again after a couple of days.

Maybe they are really dead and they don't know it. Maybe it's in between heaven / hell type of scenario. They are in 'limbo' until they remedy thier karma problems
Edited beause I can't spell

4. Great show... One question... |
|
When they did the episode on Locke, where he was in a wheelchair before the plane crash, I kept wondering why there was not one survivor who noticed him at all before the crash when he was crippled, and that he can walk now.
I've heard theories ranging from "they were all killed and are in Purgatory now" to "Jack is the only one alive and is imaging everything".
That's what is so cool about the show; you have no idea where it is going. The flashbacks are interesting, too, and I'll bet some of the survivors are going to have some kind of connection to each other before the crash.

5. One theory floating around is that they all died in the plane crash, |
|
and the island is Purgatory. From seeing their backstories, we know that a lot of the characters were on the plane because they were running to something or away from something. Maybe since they left some very important matters unfinished, they'll stay on the island until they resolve them.
Whatever turns out to be the case, "Lost" is a fantastic show that's totally unlike anything else on TV. And starting next month, it's on the same night as "Alias"! Two hours of pure, uncut coolness!

8. I so hope that's not the case. |
|
That storyline is so tired. I'll be way beyond disappointed if they just rip this idea off a bunch of other stories/movies.
