I think they are geological features. No stairs, no internal spaces and little that indicates it is man-made other than straight edges.

it's worth a mention that the site is geared around the notion that humanoids came to earth from mars thousands of years ago, and that if you look reeeeeeealyyyyyyy carefully you can see evidence of the ruined cities on the surface of mars.
Make of that what you will - it doesn't mean that any ruins found off Japan aren't interesting - I just think it's worth remembering the source for context.
