Trailer for Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is up!!
Edited on Fri Dec-10-04 05:53 PM by supernova
Johnny Depp and Tim Burton are at it again! I can't wait! :bounce:

The trailer is on 99 flavors of crack without a square of Charmin to wipe. It's mondo bizarro - and it scares me. Mommy, I wanna go home! Johnny Depp looks... well... he looks... He looks like he's coming for your soul. And he knows it is delicious! And that dentist. Man, you walk into a dentist office and see that man with tooth tools... RUN! The film looks absolutely unhinged, as a Wonka film should. And that song... it is playing and replaying in my mind like a damnedable jingle of mouseketeer sirens luring me to my death. BEWARE! This is some SCARY Stuff. Dahl might have been quite proud of this version of CHARLIE AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY...

7. It's very good
and it's J M Barrie, the author of Peter Pan. Definitely go see it; if it's in your area.

It's very sweet and very touching. Bring your hankies. :sniff:

6. Depp is the best
I only wish they'd given the role of Grampa Joe to Gene Wilder. That would have been ideal. Can someone please send me two crates of Wonka Bars? That last Golden Ticket has to be somewhere! I'll pay any price!

12. Didn't think it looked very good.
The last shot shows Willy Wonka performing a pratfall. Willy Wonka isn't supposed to be a goofy bufoon.

And that sure as hell better not have been the Oompah-Loompahs singing.

15. No, it's not a pratfall
He's bumping into a camera or a window, not sure which. But, knowing Johnny, once we see the whole story, it will fit just fine.

17. What do you think a pratfall is?
It's supposed to make the audience say "ha ha! He bumped into a window and fell down! He's so stupid ha ha ha!." You know, like Jar Jar Binks.

Sure, maybe there's a decent explanation. But the fact that they advertise it as if that's what the movie is makes me want to not see the movie.

falling. He didn't fall.

Don't worry. I feel too good for you to bother me today.

edit: If you don't like it, don't go. I'm not tying you to this thread.... yet. }(

20. Looked like he fell to me.
Regardless, pratfalling does not need to involve falling, simply making an error that causes one to look foolish. And Willy Wonka is not supposed to be foolish.

The comment about the Oompah Loompahs stands.
