Does Dance Dance Revolution teach one to dance?

Has anyone tried learning to dance from DDR and if so, how did it work out when you decided to show off your new funky moves in public?

3. No, but it's a hell of a workout.

I wish I had a place to put one - I keep hearing stories about how people got in shape and lost weight doing DDR.

4. It kinda depends on what you consider "dancing"

if you just want to learn choreography and speed it'll help a little. I found that even when I hit all my marks, I didn't look like I was dancing, I looked like I was flailing around trying to hit all my marks.
Of course I've seen people who had the N'Sync, Brittany Spears plastic choreography thing DOWN and I was like... wow, that's the most sincerely beautiful assembly line choreography I've ever seen.
My advice, have a couple margaritas and start shaking the Butt. All dancing requires some degree of Buttular movement.
Above all else remember the Booty.
