4. Jane's Addiction, hands down
I cannot forgive Anthony Kedis for attempting (several times) to rhyme the word "wall" with "bra"

completely. un. for. givable.

I was a fan of Dinosaur too, but those were the days when I had a copy of a copy of a tape...So I don't remember a cover. I always wanted to see them, but I was under 18 and I got shut of the only show I tried to see.
Then a couple years ago J Mascis played at this little club in Ann Arbor - can't remember what the band was called - and I went and they played a lot of Dinosaur songs. It was like my high school dream come true 10 years later.

on edit: it was j mascis & the fog - mike watt was there too from fIREHOSE

20. I'll look through my CD's and figure it out. It might just be the general
swirl of colors... But I could've sworn.

I was lucky. I saw them a bunch of times, including the last time they played here in New York in a tiny bar. It was awesome. They played a bunch off Green Mind and Fossils. They weren't one of those bands that wouldn't play the old songs everyone really wanted to hear. Great live band even if not the most charismatic and J. Mascis hid behind his hair- the music sounded great.

He also did a great duet with Kim Deal- a song off Pod (Breeders), I can't remember the name of it; I'm hearing it in my head, but....

6. I voted for Jane's Addiction too, except for Flea I don't care for RHCP
very much-they did nothing to compare to "Three Days" for instance...

7. Three Days is excellent
I spent so many fucking HOURS of my youth with the headphones on trying to figure out what the fuck PF was saying in the background.

also, Nothing's Shocking is, by far, the best "driving around in the summertime with the windows rolled down as you come back from the beach all sandy and sweaty and sticky" CD ever made. Ever.

10. I was about to write I'd have given it to RHCP except for Three Days
That song alone wins it for Jane's Addiction for me. The Chile Peppers have great albums and songs I love, even, but they just don't have a masterpiece like Three Days.

Not that the Chili Peppers are bad, just that we're talking about Janes' Addiction here.

22. Such a classic girl......anyone see the Jane's Addiction film "Gift"?
Edited on Fri Dec-10-04 11:16 PM by tjdee
"Oh, there's that same asshole again. I thought it would never come to this. But the guy threw a Birkenstock! I mean this guy is a real moron. He doesn't even understand fashion!"

Jane's Addiction seemed like it was full of reaaaaaallly weird dudes.
Maybe it was the drugs, but damn. Reealllly weird dudes. Didn't stop me from loving Perry though, even through his chicken punctuated, smack taking cheesy imageric film "Gift". I hate people who take themselves too seriously, but I liked their music, what can I say. Jane Says is one of the best songs ever.

Oh, and let me register my :puke: for Three Days right here. What is that song, like 298103782390879198 minutes? With wings?

Meanwhile, the Chili Peppers just seem like some dudes...and Flea...Anthony Kiedis' weird rap/sing sometimes irritates me. I LOVED their remake of Rollercoaster of Love, and that's no joke.

23. They each did one of the best cover tunes, IMHO
Chili Pepper did Higher Ground - Stevie Wonder

Jane's Addiction did Rock 'n Roll - Velvet Underground

Both impressive covers of classic songs

25. Chili Peppers definitely
Californication is one of my all-time favorite albums. Kinda surprised RHCP aren't doing better in this poll, but not really... I'm used to being in the minority when it comes to musical opinions.

Perry is annoying at times, but he's a much better singer than Anthony, who can't quite hit the notes half the time. He's got soul to burn, he rocks, but he can't hit the notes, goddamn. Stick to rappin', yo. Givitaway, givitaway givitaway now…
