The official DU Dimebag Darrel trubute thread.
This really bothers me. x( I seriously was a big Pantera fan for alot of my life. I played guitar, and had the Pantera songbooks. They got me through many tough teenag years. What bother me is how violent his death was. Some guy just gets up on stage and shoots him in the face 5 times.

I am so angry, but I don't blame it in the guy that killed him. He obviously had severe mental problems. But I just can't believe Dimebag is dead. :(

Well, here's to you "Dimebag" Darrel Lance Abbott.

This puff is for you! :smoke:

Let us close this vigil with "Cemetary Gates"

Cemetary Gates

Reverend reverend is this some conspiracy?
Crucified for no sins
An image beneath me
Whats within our plans for life
It all seems so unreal
I'm a man cut in half in this world
Left in my misery...

The reverend he turned to me
Without a tear in his eyes
It's nothing new for him to see
I didn't ask him why
I will remember
The love our souls had
Sworn to make
Now I watch the falling rain
All my mind can see
Now is your (face)

Well I guess
You took my youth
I gave it all away
Like the birth of a
New-found joy
This love would end in rage
And when she died
I couldn't cry
The pride within my soul
You left me incomplete
All alone as the memories now unfold.

Believe the word
I will unlock my door
And pass the
Cemetery gates

Sometimes when I'm alone
I wonder aloud
If you're watching over me
Some place far abound
I must reverse my life
I can't live in the past
Then set my soul free
Belong to me at last

Through all those
Complex years
I thought I was alone

I didn't care to look around
And make this world my own
And when she died
I should've cried and spared myself some pain...
<YOU> left me incomplete
All alone as the memories still remain

The way we were
The chance to save my soul
And my concern is now in vain
Believe the word
I will unlock my door
And pass the cemetery gates

2. My husband and I echo your sentiments.
The world will miss his amazing talent. We're still stunned, it's sickening the way he was killed.

I do blame the crazed freak who did it, though. Fortunately he'll never hurt another person again.

We were just listening to our Pantera collection in the car this past weekend... now he's gone. :(

3. hehe...My pantera Cd's are scratched beyond repair
I decided to donate to soulseek, though and "retrieve" the songs that were once at my fingertips for listening pleasure.

Time for "I'm Broken" :headbang:

4. I think Lars Ulrich said it best,
"this fucking senseless act of selfishness and stupidity".

5. Are you serious?
The guy's name was "dime bag" and you can't understand what happened? When I heard this on the news, I laughed so hard that I never heard the rest of the story!

I mean common, get a clue!

6. You are the enlightened one, eh?
It is a sad week in Heavy Metal World.

My heart goes out to Dimebag's family and to all the families of the other victims of this senseless massacre.

He was loved and respected by many.

RIP DB:headbang:

7. Are you serious?
You're that much of an idiot that you would judge a man's life by his stage name?

9. You laughed?
The asshole jumped up on stage 5 times, shot him, and then 6 other people, then took a hostage. You're one sick bastard.

10. Be nice.
It was just a stage name. This guy was a big fan.
Come ridicule me on my copycat thread.
But give this guy a break.

11. Thanks for the concern.
Good to know that you laughed your ass off at a multiple homicide. You DO know that three fans died too, don't you?

Look, you don't have to worship the guy (to be honest I didn't know who he was until I heard this story), but why do you feel the need to laugh in the faces of people who did look up to him and will miss him?

And umm...I don't know what you mean by "you can't figure out what happened?"; since the guy was killed onstage by a fanatic who thought the band was stealing his identity and his song lyrics. It had nothing to do with his name, or anything that name might represent.

Could it be that, while you were too busy "laughing your ass off"--because an innocent guy got his brains splattered all over the stage, along with several of his fans--to hear the rest of the story, maybe you're the one who doesn't know what happened?

so, umm, *come on,* why don't YOU get a clue?
