Who here had Creepy Crawlers?
Doesn't this bring back memories? Did you precision-craft your bugs or simply let the goop make rainbow patterns. I used to hate it when you were trying to assemble bugs and the little holes broke. I always had excess appendages.

2. I didn't, but my friend did.
Of course she and her sister had everything - Honda 50s, ponies, etc. But I got the benefit of them also. We had lots of fun making Creepy Crawlers.

10. We used to make incredble edibles when we would go to the lake
on the weekends.

We kept that thing for years. Who knows what that stuff was even made from!! I thought it was so cool at the time.

So funny you remembered incredible edibles! I havent thought about that in years***

4. I used to make those...

I'll never forget how excited I was when I got that for Christmas one year! Used to love pouring the stuff in to heat it up. Liked to use atypical colors for the different bugs, reptiles, bats, etc. Liked the lizards, Scorpions, and worms especially. :D

Do they still make those sets? Kids should have the opportunity to make their own creatures--and play with them as much as they like! Who knows, lots of entamologists probably got started with a Creepy Crawler set--and lots more could still! :7

B-)

and I got burned too. It's an educational toy in more ways than one. Among other things, you learn that hot metal burns your skin. :-)
Of course, I'm sure they got sued and thus this fine product is no longer available. It's a shame.

I loved the smell of the burning plastic too as I recall.

7. The plates gave me 2nd degree burns
My Mom had to buy tons of goop because my Sister and I were making them all of the time.
We liked to make the roaches look real and we would leave them everywhere that we went to and we thought that they would scare people.

Do you remember Incredible Edibles?

9. Yeah! These were the best.
We had a major crisis when we couldn't find anyone who sold goop anymore. Luckily, we found a fishing supply place that sold similar goop for making lures.

Those were the good old days. If your kid gets burned on a toy, just slap on some salve (instead of dialing 1-800-LAWYERS)

11. My Mom went to every toy store in Chicago looking for goop
My Sister and I went nuts because they took it off the market.

Do you remember the bright green goop that glowed in the dark?

12. You had to dry out the trays
before you put the Plastigoop in...otherwise your crawlers would be covered with necrotic tumors. Creepy!

13. We used to do that on purpose
There were some molds that you could make your own soldiers and we created some ghastly looking ones. Strange the things you remember.

In kind of a cool way:-)

Did you light army men on fire too? That was the best...their little green heads would drip flaming goo on the sidewalk. Then you were left with a hideous alien who worked for our armed services!

16. Had them and Incredible Edibles...thanks for posting the pictures...
I haven't seen those in more years than I care to add up. You really could burn yourself on those heating elements. I marvel that when I was a little kid, we had "dangerous toys" such as this, woodburning tools, chemistry sets with alcohol lamps, etc... I don't imagine that is the case for kids today.
