Race fans - What does "stroker" mean? |
|
There was the great nascar movie starring Kenny Rodgers and Loni Anderson called "Stroker Ace" and I saw the commercial for the Dale Earnhardt movie where he was referred to as a "stroker". I have no idea what stroker means in this context. If anyone knows, please tell.

1. A "stroker" is a modified engine. |
|
Basically the stroke of the pistons are lengthened, thus creating more power (that's the short version).

4. it's an unfair advantage.. |

a bigger engine always produces more power. Unless the engine is torn down and measured "mic'ed" you'll never know it's a little bigger than what the rules allow.
you can "stroke" a 350 to make it anything up to a 380+ cubic inch, with the power increase to match.
