the last starfighter
has to be one of the most stupid movies.

i like the scene where the protagonist is about to break the "all time record" on the video game and then the whole trailer park community comes out to cheer him in this feat.

1. Okay...I'll agree...it's Stupid...but...
...how many times have you watched it anyway?

:)

I'm guilty, too.

3. Yes, cheesy movies can be addictive.
For some reason, I am compelled to watch "Clash of the Titans" whenever I come across it on cable.

It's a sickness.

4. But you missed the point!
The whole movie is all about satire! If you tried to treat it the same way you treated the original Star Wars or such, that's not the way to see it. Go back to it after a couple of years, and you will see what I mean. It's like Tron--that damned excellent film was SO beyond its time. Now it's being treated to the acclaim it deserves. Last Starfighter is in the same vein--remember the year it came out, and what its subject matter was all about, and you will find a rare gem.

Most people fail to realize these films were out when far fewer people were internet savvy, and aimed for "true geeks" in the purest form of the word. Stick tongue in cheek and look at them through fresh eyes, and you will understand.

5. I saw it theatrically 20 years ago. (God, has it really been that long?!)
I liked it at 18, but have no idea what I'd think about it now.

8. Cheezy, but it does have a great line:
"What do we do now?"

"We DIE."
