Poll question: Who should you root for in this lawsuit? |
|
http://neworleans.cox.net/cci/entertainmentnews/national?_mode=view&_state=maximized&view=article&id=D86T7R000on the one hand, this lawsuit is absolutely fucking ridiculous. on the other hand, if they win it hurts Wal-Mart. tough call.

If WalMart is going to pretend to be the nanny of the country and sell guns but not alcohol and censor other rock artists while promoting those with hits that make them money, then lawsuits like this will occur since there are still relevant issues concerning truth in advertising.
Otherwise they can just forego the shitty policy of censoring pop music altogether, and they won't make themselves fodder for a lawsuit.

Since they put themselves in the business of censoring, those parents had every right to believe there would be no objectionable language. Walmart opened itself up to lawsuits like this.

3. Not frivolous as corporate america needs to stand by its claims. |
|
Walmart is a giant phony. It's funny to note some of the other things they sell... "Total Recall" they sell and there's not a minute that doesn't go by without a truckload of profanity and empty violence.
They sell GTA III (and SA and other editions), I noticed.
I've said very little already.
aNyone siding with Wal-Mart is wrong. Wal-mart wants to be a purveyor of decency, fine. Then let them show it instead of just saying it. As with many other things, they are not being truthful (aka they are LIARS).

4. I predict this lawsuit will be dismissed on the grounds . . . |
|
. . . that there are no damages. So somebody hears the the "F" word? How are they hurt? Emotionally? I don't think so.
Just my initial impression and opinion.
