I installed a printer today...and now my Internet has the slows |
|
As soon as I installed my new printer all of a sudden my Internet connection is operating at the speed of a dialup connection.
I've done the following things, but nothing has changed: Disk defragmentation, dump temporary Internet files, dump cookies, run my anti-bug program (Ad-Aware).
Any help would be appreciated.

1. It's hard to say unless one knows your hardware |
|
but I would guess both the modem and printer are pulling on the same piece of memory. Are they both USB ports? I got out of hardware troubleshooting before the USB port age so I can't really help you there.

When you did the installation, were you supposed to install any software for the printer Before you plugged it into the USB ports?
Have you tried the website for the printer manufacturer to see if there's a software or firmware update for your printer to resolve any XP compatibility issues?
Have you turned OFF your modem and recycled it since this problem started?

2. How do you connect to the internet?
3. What programs are on your startup list?

1. A Samsung ML 1740
2. Cable Modem (Broadband)
3. I don't know how to answer this question
In response to other questions, yes this printer hooks up via a USB port and I'm wondering if that's eating into my internet speed.
