Diner appreciation thread...
Edited on Sun Dec-12-04 03:07 PM by Longgrain
Since I just had lunch, and I'm in one of my Jack Kerouac moods, hitchhiking across the neon planes of America...Back in the day, long before strip malls, the best meal in town could usually be found at the old stainless steel diner.

Many have disappeared, but quite a few are still around. Every time I pass by one of these greasy-spoons, I just have to get out and snag a photo...

Here's a few...

Kathy's Diner in N. Hampton, MA

Skips Blue Moon Diner in Gardner, MA (The retro sign post was a prop from a movie.)

And finally, The Sunny Day Diner in Woodstock, NH
(ironic name because it was pouring rain that day)

So let's hear it for these mom-and-pop stands; support your local diner

1. I love little local diners! Love them.
When we're on a road trip, I'd much rather stop at a diner than any chain restaurant or fast food restaurant.

4. Oh man, I love diners!
And anything having to do with historic roadside America. When I was visiting my sister in Arlington, VA I went out of my way to go have breakfast at Diner 29 on Route 29 in Fairfax. It is listed on the National register of Historic Places.
