7. Me either...
Harrison Ford, IMO, went from handsome to desperate loser when he got his, and a good friend of mine hit 50, had a crisis, got an earring and I actually think it makes him look much older.

9. He helped inspire Harrison Ford to get his ear pierced.
Edited on Sun Dec-12-04 07:32 PM by No Surrender
Ford had his pierced at 54. Ford claims it's something he wanted to do for a long time and finally did it after seeing Bradley's and Jimmy Buffet's. Don't know when Bradley had his done, nor do I know the reason.

edited for typo

10. Thanks for the info, but...
there must be a REASON, no matter how insignificant.

12. How about " 'cause I wanted to "?
Edited on Sun Dec-12-04 07:39 PM by mcscajun
That's as much reason as most folks have for doing things.

13. That would explain why I still smoke.
It's because I want to.
I guess I still want to because I'm an addict.
OK, good explanation, if not a "reason".
Why does a guy all of a sudden decide he wants to drill a hole in his earlobe and hang a gold circle there?
A (younger) friend of mine did, and I wouldn't be so rude as to ask him why, but I sure wonder.
Bradley is my age, or there abouts. He is (obviously) a black man.
Does that have anything to do with it?
I'm just damned curious.

14. Blame it on Liza Minnelli ...
Here's your explanation, sort of, trof:

http://www.southcoasttoday.com/daily/02-96/02-19-96/zpeople.htm#XINDEX3

"60 Minutes" correspondent Ed Bradley has a wild side. Sometimes, though, he just needs a nudge to show it.

Like the time he told Liza Minnelli he'd always wanted to get his ear pierced, but never had the nerve because of his high-profile job.

Revealing his secret wish during the 1986 interview, Mr. Bradley also told Ms. Minnelli about his nickname "Teddy," which friends use to describe the veteran reporter's fun side.

"I said 'You know, it's '60 Minutes' and all seriousness and gravity and all that,' but Teddy says, 'It's just an earring,'" Mr. Bradley said in the Feb. 24 issue of TV Guide.

"We were doing another interview the next day, and she gave me an earring and says, 'When you see Teddy, give it to him," Mr. Bradley said. "So that was when I went out and got my ear pierced."

Colleagues at "60 Minutes" had wide-ranging reactions.

"Oh, there was some shock," he says. "I think the original reaction was: 'I guess he wants to have it ... but he's not going to wear that on the air, is he?'"
