My 2 least favorite days of the year: February 14 and October 31st. Not really; If I didn't have to spend them at work with 30 kids.... Last year I took the day off and spent 3 days in Yosemite Valley. Quiet, peaceful, and incredible fall color, even if the falls were dry. I sat by a diminished river and meditated in solitary silence for hours. A great way to spend samhain. I can't do it again this year. So it's off to all day with 30 overly enthusiastic kids who spend the whole day obsessing over costumes and trying to consume their body weight in sugar.
There's no use trying to accomplish any teaching; it just won't happen. So some sort of fall festival is in order. Cider. Popcorn. Poetry reading. Art. Scarecrows. Square dancing. Maybe I can do this after all.

6. I once knew a nun who said Halloween was her vaborite holiday |
|
Edited on Tue Sep-23-03 09:46 PM by zekeson
that kind of freaked me out - but when she explained it I understood fully. She said its the only holiday that she got to spend with the kids that she practically raised at her school. All the others were school holidays and were spent with the kids' families, but with Halloween she got to participate in making decorations, costumes, treats, stories... I think of her every Halloween.

back to our pagan friends! :D
I love october. It's still warm here. Cooler nights, but just as warm days as late summer. Leaves changing color, days getting shorter.

10. Fall is my favorite season |

and Halloween is the pinnicle! I absolutely love carving pumpkins! Since I live in an apartment and don't have a porch to put one out, I'm carving some for the nature center to display.

but I think I'm gonna get some of those glowing eyes you can drape around your front shrubery. OK, so I'm a complete juvenile! http://www.restorationhardware.com/page.jhtml?navHistory=&type=product&categoryId=cat690003&id=prod210010
