if the recipient can survive on a partial liver (which will grow in the recipient) a live donor transplant is possible.
However, doctors are reluctant to do it because of the risk to the donor, including some deaths.

.. it's just that I have a tendency to start giggling every time I go near a needle. Not a nervouse giggling mind you. I actually ended up laughing once, while a surgeon described the operation I was about to (supposedly - but then they realized that the surgery would have no effect) undergo.

10. I saw a future organ donor today. |
|
He was driving really fast down the icy highway. You would think those donor hopefuls would move to big cities where they could be more successfully harvested. You can have my organs when I'm done with them, but I'm planning to use them up pretty good. :)

13. part me out, burn the rest |

It's on my driver's license and written up with my will, although by the time they find that, it will be too late. Plus I give blood regularly, in fact it has been 8 weeks since my last donation and I am going in today - should be donation number 80 or so. Also on the bone marrow registry.
