Anyone else have really sensitive hearing? |
|
I can hear things other's can't...except for people talking to me....
What I mean is this...
I can hear a bus coming down the street in my basement apt.
I can hear cats walking upstairs on my ceiling (i'm in the basement).
I can hear people walking on concret up to our door...
It's weird...
But sometimes I can't hear people talking to me in the same room.

"But sometimes I can't hear people talking to me in the same room." That sounds selective.
Have you been tested for hyperacusis?

One of my brothers used to call it my "Vulcan Sense of Hearing." I've often wondered if my uncanny ability to be standing in front of the next elevator to come up to the floor isn't somehow related to a superb sense of sound.
I can hear folks talking in the same room, too, however.

I'm always hearing things others don't, half the time it's from feeling it.

You get used to how things sound when they're normal. Any deviation from that norm in the background, and its as loud as a freight train...
My GF has a an odd voice. It has NO carrying power. When we're outside, I can hear the train blowing for the next town 4 miles up the road, but I have to ask her to speak up 3 feet away. She says I'm deaf. I say she mumbles.

my daughter has it, I'm suspected of having it.
It's a lot worse with background noise. Ank's filled the apartment with his fscking birds and I can't hear a damn thing.

Earlier this year I had a hearing test, and it ended up I had better aural acuity than the doctor-- a 24 year old EXTREMELY GOOD LOOKING female! (To the PC crowd: I don't care. I said it, and I'll say it again. HOT HOT HOT HOT HOT!!) I'm 48, BTW.
