Lucille Ball reveals that Reagan's saw a UFO |
|
I've been reading a funny memoir on Lucille Ball called, "Lucy in the Afternoon." In it Lucy reveals that she was invited to a party and the party was on hold because the guests of honors--Ron and Nancy Reagan hadn't arrived yet. People were getting a bit upset, when Ron and Nancy come rushing in, out of breath and apologize saying they were late "because we were watching a UFO"--"and they really believed it."
Lucy adds (ruefully) that maybe if she had revealed this information that Reagan might never have become president.

Not to mention her comments on season 1's groundbreaking-in-a-way gay-themed episode.
She was funny, but she ain't no queen of comedy, sorry. She only got in front of a TV camera before anybody else.
Yes, she WAS funny. And very good. But so was Jackie Gleason, Don Adams, Damon Wayans before he went nuclear-family on our asses with that stupid ABC show, and so on...

she came from a very left wing family. Her grandfather who really raised her was a communist and he urged her to register as one and she did, and during the 50's witchhunts it came back to bite her--but because of her fame she was able to withstand it. The book seems to indicate that she was fairly liberal.
