"Rocco's" won't make it 6 months...
What's that show on Bravo? "The Restaurant"?

Geez, if I worked for Rocco, I'd had drowned him in the dish machine the first night.

"Where's my fucking clams?" "Of COURSE it's hot! what did you fuckin' expect? be READY next time!"

Has some sadist for a manager they call "The Frenchman" who tell a runner who falls in the dish room "That's Life, go home..."

Spends all his timne schmoozing with the customers instead of running the kitchen.

The lay-out STINKS! the kitchen is downstairs. He has "runners" who run the orders up the stairs, then run back down to grab the next one. I wonder how many orders get dumped from collisions?

the kitchen catches fire, and he grabs a 10-pound ABC extingiusher and fights it himself instead of calling FDNY...

Yeah, 6 months. judging from next week's previews, the staff is close to mutiny, Rocco spends so much time in the dining room that the food sucks, and I could get into this if I liked seeing workin' folks getting abused and watching train wrecks....

3. I don't know...Don't keep up on those things...
I tell everyone I'm too young to play golf...

Some guy named Rocco. I know zilch about him other than what I saw tonight. I don't think he even cooks, since the only time he was in the kitchen was to eat the staff's asses, and he had his 78-yr-old Mama come in to make 300 meatballs...

2. it was godawful, like a train wreck
Rocco is a useless asshole. Although the "that's life go home" is pretty much what I would have said. What did the kid want? A kiss on the cheek and a piece of candy? Aww, poor baby, you got hurt, go to the ER if you need to or go home, you're just tying everyone else up.

5. I think the kid wanted things done according to Law.
You get hurt on the job, your employer owes you more than "suck it up and stop your whining".

Rocco seems not to know that your wait staff can make you or break you. And having a mgr. who blows off an OTJ injury without being "corrected" ain't gonna endear you to them.

It was a train wreck, though, wasn't it?

The other night, we watched a show where they were at The Greenbriar. 300 entres in 2 hours. everything was running smooth except the Chef on the Red Snapper grill got in the weeds BAD and was 30-some-odd orders behind. No cussing, no "You ASSHOLE! HURRY UP!" Just "Chef, what do you need? No Chef, that ones burnt, see the smoke? start that one over." Then up comes the Sous Chef with 4 line cooks and they get him caught up.

Now, THATS a kitchen!

6. what does an employer owe a person?
enlighten me plz

Yeah, great way to keep a staff "You suck where's my clams!", if the economy wasn't so bad, he could have experienced a mass-walkout.

9. Let's just say I'm glad I don't work for you.
And leave it at that.
If you're clueless about Workman's Comp rules and OTJ injuries, I'm not gonna school you.

Every place I've ever worked, somebody gets hurt, that person immediately became Job One. At the least, there was paperwork and reports to fill out. at the most, somebody took them to the ER with no delay or called the EMT's.

Like I said, glad I don't work for you.

I watched that show last week and was cracking up --

hello, demolition, new business -- no inspection? Yeah, right!

8. It ran 6 weeks on NBC this summer
Every Sunday night at 10 beginning in mid July. They called it a season in late August, but in the finale Rocco Despirito suggested they will pick up next summer for a TV sampling of the entire first year.

I won't give away the subsequent high or low lights, if it's being rerun on Bravo. Must say I enjoyed the show and didn't miss an episode, unlike the other reality crap I automatically avoid, although I shared your evaluation of snooty Rocco and the French room manager. Rocco took great offense at the criticism after it was aired, insisting the staff of his other two restaurants adored and would do anything for him.

I think the actual restaurant in New York is called Rocco's 23rd St, or something very close to that.
