Am I the only one who could not CARE LESS about Scott Peterson?
Edited on Mon Dec-13-04 04:09 PM by Placebo
The entire national media has been cannibalized by a local trial that doesn't effect any of us! When there's so much news which really matters that isn't being reported. UGH, I've had it up to here. UP. TO. HERE.

Just another excuse to turn CNN/MSNBC/FOX NEWS off. :grr:

1. sorry, grammar nazi alert: it's "could not care less"
Edited on Mon Dec-13-04 04:11 PM by StopTheMorans
"could care less" implies something totally different. sorry :D

on edit: I could not care less about the whole thing either; it's another damn smokescreen meant to draw attention away from the REAL issues...

...I couldn't care less about what happens to him...or about the story.

It's pathetic and horrible that he murdered his wife, but I don't see Any Need to make a national soap opera out of it.

the media zombie whores are already teeing up Michael Jackson--again.
Count on seeing wall-to-wall Jackson/kiddie diddling investigations through the next couple of months.
They used to call it "bread and circuses."

And yes, they've got another Jacko installment warming up for when the "post-game analysis" of the Peterson trial winds down. Egad.

11. Talk about a feeding frenzy
Poor Scott. Not a shred of evidence linking him to a death of his wife, yet he's been convicted of first-degree murder simply because he was a dumb cheat of a husband.

Americans paid more attention to hanging Scott Peterson than they did to the fact that their country is being highjacked out from under them.

I'm rich and I'm set. Let those mouthbreathers who actually care about this crap suffer the consequences of their stupidity. In the meantime, I'll do what I can to help people who try their damnedest and get screwed in what is rapidly becoming Fuckface's America.

13. Very few people at DU care about Scott n' Laci
Bartcop likes to mention it and his readers give him a hard time about it too.

I thought it would be over when he was foouond guilty, but no such luck.

It's even more annoying than JonBenet and OJ, because it is such a TYPICAL, BORING, LOCAL MURDER CASE.

17. I'm 100% with you
After 9/11 everyone said that sensationalized murder trials and non-news stories were "passe" but obviously we've sunk right back down into tabloid obsession again. Yes, it's horrible that he killed his wife and baby, but there are people out of work and lives being ruined daily here and in Iraq and all people want to know is whether Scott Peterson will get a death sentence (which, in California, won't actually happen for probably another decade, if ever)? Total distraction from things that are seriously wrong with our country and world.

It's going to be used to establish fetal rights and chip at Roe vs. Wade. Most people don't understand the legal precedents this case is setting. :(

not because of the way it was handled..

if this guy with good lawyers, who looks like Mr. All American can get convicted on nothing but weak circumstancial evidence..then how can any of us feel safe in this country?

24. I think the amount of coverage this case has garnered is beyond
ridiculous. Was the murder of Laci and her baby terrible - of course, but come on - sadly, it happens every day.

I can't believe how people are just itching for a death penalty either. I am not absolutely opposed to the death penalty, but I'm not in favour of it either. I think that Scott Peterson did it, but there is no way in hell I could condemn him to death on the evidence that they have.

26. I am opposed to the death penalty.
I don't like Scott Peterson. I see nothing likable about the man at all.

But I'm appalled that the death penalty is even being considered for a case that was "won" on circumstantial evidence.

28. By not totally opposed to the death penalty I mean that
I would not object to the Hitlers of the world being subject to it.

When the Greeen River Killer was sentanced a few months back he was given a deal to avoid the death penalty. (He gave the location of more victims.) I think it was better to relieve the families of the victims than to give him the ultimate punishment.

I can't believe that they just sentanced Peterson to death.

30. it's annoying that white good looking people are all the news
wants to deal with for the most part. and it gives the impression that this kind of crime is a rarity or something when most cases like this are ignored entirely. i feel worse for the poorer and less telegenic victims out there.
i don't agree with the death penalty, ever.

Look, I'm sorry Laci and Connor died. I'm also sorry about the pain affecting the Peterson and Rocha families.

But the 'liberal' media has gone way overboard. If I were Scott's or Laci's father, I would not want all of this media attention.
