Just because the media has it on blast 24/7. I had to turn off the news tonight because I just couldn't bear it...

1. What's even more hilarious is that people who say they don't care about it
can't resist posting about their disdain for it on DU.

18. I posted because of the phenomena of blowing up stories to distract from
more important issues.... not the case itself.

4. They have no life OR its women with wack-job husbands/boyfriends.
The later group is transfixed by public trials or events involving this type of relationship-based violence. Their involvement is understandable. The rest of the crowd expresses the same prurient fascination with death and violence echoed throughout the prime time schedule. Or I could be completely wrong. Maybe it's really important to focus on one murder for months at a time.

5. I remember
someone coming into my home and saying that Simpson was on television in a car chase with police. With a truely puzzled expression I asked if Bart could drive.

Ah, those innocent days when I wasn't so enrapt with the media, such as it is.

13. sorry, my paxil is screwing with my concentration.
i wanted to be the life of the party, but now i can't concentrate because i'm out of ritalin. on top of that, i'm depressed because prozac is affecting my male performance. so i got some enzyte - hey aren't those commercials just so funny? i had to stop taking viagra because my acid reflux acted up, blew the medication back into my esophagus, and it gave me a stiff neck.

where was i? oh yea, so now i'm taking prescription strength dexatrim, but it ate out the lining of my stomach, but nexium allows me to get through a meal without vomiting, though it does give me diahreeaaaa.....fuck, i can't spell anymore. i need to ask my doctor about increasing the strength of my ritalin dosage, i can't remember if i took it today or not. voices in my head.....

the good news is, wellbutrin helped me quit smoking after i got addicted to nicorrette, but the combo gave me tourrettes. shit shit shit shit shit.

23. I can completely believe that
because they do that all the time -- turn pop tragedy into a music video. It would go something like this...

Stone Phillips: "I'm Stone Phillips. Let's take a look back at the life and trial that was Laci Peterson.

-Cut to Roll In Video-
(music: Sarah McLaughlan's "I Will Remember You.") montage of zooms and pans of still photos of Laci P. Slow mo of Mark Geragos, etc, etc.

I just made myself ill.

16. I just finished watching CourtTV's special on that case.
Believe it or not this is the only report i have seen on it. It's not that i don't care, but since i avoid the MSM i skipped all the hoopla.

and my only knowledge comes through threads like this.

I don't know how we've managed to function in society without all the critical information about important current events. (/sarcasm)
