I rescued two kittens from the deep freeze tonight......
.....s'gonna be in the 20's outside for the next three nights...these two kittens...one male one female have been starvin' outside at my ex's apartment complex for a couple weeks now..he'd been feedin' 'em because he couldn't stand to see how emaciated the female was gettin'...the male is healthy but she's just bones...our kitty that we rescued 4 years ago in January hates these poor babies....she'd hiss and wanna fight with 'em every time she went outside....knowin' it was gonna be freezin'....I knew this wee little thing wouldn't make it tonight...sooooo without havin' paid a pet deposit...I'm sittin' here with this poor little baby in my lap...and her *brother* is raisin' hell under my bed as I type...sigh... :loveya:

7. Yes indeed.....
....I couldn't stand to see 'em suffer another second out there....they've eaten heartily...pooped and played...now both are sleepin' peacefully..this baby girl won't let the other NEAR my lap...she growls at him...he's just adorable and talkative....she's got a long way to go before she's healthy again....I do feel blessed...they're sooooo sweet! :)

4. God bless you.
And The King will answer, "I tell you solemnly, in so far as you did this to the least of these children of mine, you did it to me." (Matthew 25:40)

What the world needs now, is love, sweet love, no, not just for some, but for everyone.

YOU ARE AWESOME!!!

Good luck with the critters. I don't even like cats but I'd have brought them in, too. ;-)

30. What happens...
if they "rescue" them, and then euthanize them?

In my book, that kind of behavior is worse than not rescuing them in the first place.

31. well, maybe.
is a painless quiet death really worse than slowly starving or freezing, or dying of horrible injuries from cars or other animals?

of course its better when animals can be rescued, and found loving homes, or at least kept safely. but realistically its not always possible.

You probably want to take them to the vet for a checkup though...you don't know what vaccines they have and what ones they don't, and that is useful information to have.

19. Good For You!
Your senior cat will warm up to them - even cats have a hard time resisting kittens.

What a great Cold Weather Holiday present for everyone: the kittens get a safe home; your older cat gets friends of the same species; and you get a lapful of fur.

:loveya:

21. Like someone said a few posts up...
There's a special place in heaven for people like you. Though some may think I'm  for saying this, but in the long run those kittens *know* what you've done for them and will be eternally grateful. I'd say you have enough karma points right now to rob a bank and still come out ahead. Okay maybe not that much, but maybe enough to fudge on your taxes a bit.

In these days when it seems that all we can see is the collective soul of this country being deceived and crushed by the ugliness and hatred of the powerful but few, it's ordinary people like you who give me hope and restore my faith in all mankind.

P.S. Kitten poop is the worst smelling thing in the world. Just a heads up.

22. The one Christmas story that makes me cry
is about the mother cat who brings her kitten to a warm house, ensures that she is safe and then dies...

Choke choke, sniff sniff.....

29. WORD OF WARNING
Make sure you always quarantine cats you take in, they may be FIV positive (among other things) and you don't want to infect your house cats! Either bring them to a vet directly, or contact a no-kill shelter and they may help 'process' the cats.

And a big THANKS! for taking in homeless cats that may have died without your intervention. That's how my one housecat became five :-)

34. This sounds very much like our house...
and the cat that's living on our sun porch b/c two of the three of us are allergic to cats...but he was hungry and it is cold..and now he has his own litter box??? What???

If anyone lives near Waterloo, Iowa and needs a male cat about 9 months old please let me know! He's orange w/a white chest and white paws and he's sweet as puddin! He scratches at the door to go outside and at the picture window to come back in (and he loves belly rubs - at least from my husband, the only one who can touch him).
