Ever seen a show that you loved as a kid but now wonder WHY?
I saw an espiode of "Super Friends" the other day. I remember when I was a kid how I loved that show.

But when I watched it I was just wondering how I could stand it. EW!

Ever had a show that you loved when you were younger and now, when you see it you're more in line with WTF was I thinking?

1. Rowan & Martin's "Laugh-In"
It seemed so funny and cutting-edge in 1968, but seeing reruns today on Trio it seems so lame......

4. I would have to say...
...Gilligan's Island. Yeah, Ginger and Mary Ann where hot, but all the plots where so stupid.

12. PLOTS?
You mean plural?

Wait... did you ever see that Gilligan's Island episode where they almost get off the island, but at the last minute Gilligan screws up and they all have to stay?

Or how about I Love Lucy?

Didja ever see that episode where Lucy and Ethel try and put one over on Ricky and Fred only to have it backfire on them?

Moving on to Star Trek....

Didja ever see the episode where the Enterprise runs into a "spatial anomoly" that threatens to:
A.)destroy the ship
B.)destroy earth
C.)fundamentally change the balance of power in the quadrant
or
D.) All of the Above

I could go on...... but I won't

2. Gilligan's Island
I think it's because at the time I was probably the same mental age as Gilligan and I related to him (about 8 years old). I also thought he was kinda cute.

But I've seen it since and wondered why I ever enjoyed that prattle. I think if I was on a deserted Island with any of those clowns I would brave the sharks instead.

9. A good related question would be...
What shows did you watch years ago that are even remotely watchable now? I know I can't name too many. Probably why I stick to news, science, and history shows these days.

13. Man from U.N.C.L.E.
I absolutely loved that show. A TV buff friend of mine gave me a tape of several shows. Boy was it terrible. Totally disjointed and almost no plot. I wonder how some others would hold up like Mission Impossible and Wild, Wild West? Anyone?

14. Battlestar Galactica, Buck Rogers in the 25th Century, Knight Rider...
I was a science fiction TV fan. I watch these every now and again on SciFi Channel and wonder what sort of drugs my parents were slipping into my Kool Aid.

Especially Battlestar Galactica... I know there are people who just LOVE that show, but I can't understand why. It was terribly written and in even it's best episodes, really boring.

15. Star Wars
Was on late and kids had to go to bed and I can recall telling them they could see it later. I always hated Lucy. By the way my father loved TV and got the first deal to sell in Maine and sold it soon as he had to put the line on top of a 3 story building. He always laughted about that but about '47 we had a TV and got lots of test patterns. He said he has seen it at the Worlds Fair in NY.???? He was sort of in that business so I guess that helped his like for all that stuff.

17. G.I. Joe
I watched it for years after school when I was supposed to be watching PBS. I had a crush on Mutt and the fireman with the Boston accent (and Tomax and Xamot and the swamp dwelling guy they worked for.)

Looking back, they didn't even animate that show. It's just voices talking over some drawings that change every three or four minutes.

But then knowing IS half the battle.

18. Oh, I remember GI JOE...
I can't even remember WHY I watched it. I thought it was good stuff then.

I liked Lady J. Not because I thought she was hot but because she was a woman who was in control of her life and herself. She was great.

(And I agree with you on Tomax and Xamot...)

20. The Banana Splits
It was my favorite show, hey I was only 5--but now I wonder how I ever thought it was funny. However, I recently saw a few episodes of The Electric Company and wow!! THAT one holds up--great songs, trippy costumes and sets, really cool!

21. The Love Boat
Why did my parents let me watch that? I can't imagine letting my children watch a show based on the premise of one night stands on a cruise ship. But from ages 7 to about 11, it was my favorite show.

Beverly Hillbillies? (that's a shitload of 'i's and 'l's!) Hey, it's just about worth it to hear Jed's jokes about how dumb Jethro is.

"When that boy gets an empty stomach--he gets a head to match!"

Foghorn leghorn-ish. :-)
