Boston will win the World Series in 2004
Not this year...but in 2004.

I have my reasons to say this......

In 1994, I visited NYC. Days later, the Rangers won their first Stanley Cup in 50 years.
In 1998, I was in Knoxville, TN. That year, Tennessee won the National Championship.
In 2001, I visited Boston. 2 months later, the Patriots won their first Super Bowl.
In 2002, I was in LA for an interview. Soon after, the Anaheim Angels won their first World Series.
I was in Columbus, Ohio in late 2002 visiting a friend. One month later, Ohio State won their first National Championship in 34 years.

I have a piece of luck that when I visit a city, their sports team wins a title (but only if they've had a LONG lack of a championship in that sport).

And I'll be in Boston next year for the Democratic Convention.

1. You might be right
Their bullpen looks like it will be an inevitable problem this year.

11. LOL
Cincinnati needs a PRAYER, not a visit from AWD!

- Bungles has been bad since Boomer Esasion retired.
- Reds has been playing pretty bad, even with superstars such as Larkin and Griffey

6. When did the Red Sox last win the Series?
On another thread I could not remember which Sox franchise last won in 1918 and which last won in 1919.

I guess I could've googled it, but it's more fun this way.

12. 1918 for the Red Sox
Edited on Wed Sep-24-03 01:58 PM by RedSox02
I beleive the White Sox made it to the World Series in 1919 but had the "Black Sox" scandal where most of the players threw the series and the White Sox have never made it back since. I think they last won though in 1917 but I am not sure. But for the Red Sox it was 1918.

16. Thanks and good luck!
And by the way, Pensky (sp?) didn't hold the ball, Slaughter's blazing speed did the trick. (1946 Series reference where
"Slaughter's Mad Dash" in game 7 won the series for the Cardinals.)

17. too bad for the Cardinals this year
They had the same problem as the Sox do, bad bullpen, too little pitching, great hitting. I know Card fans don't like the Cubs but it woudl be nice to see the Cubs make it for hte drama instead of the 'Stros.

14. Went to an A's Sox game this year in Oakland
I have a soft spot in my heart for both the Giants and A's sicne I spent a couple of months living in the Bay Area, but still a Sox fan. Should be a great playoffs with teh Cubs, Red Sox, Twins A's and Giants all in, along with the perennials, the Yankees and Braves.

8. In my lifetime...
I have seen the Celtics take a championship

I have seen the Patriots win a championship

The Bruins won a championship, but I was too young to appreciate it (and now they are determined to make sure it never happens again)

The Red Sox try, and then they break your heart. I wish, just once, this were not the case.

But alas, I'm very good at having my heart broken.

10. You've seen all that???
...don't talk to me about heartbreak!

I grew up near Cleveland! Ohio State last year was the first one I ever won...and I'm 34 years old!!!

Incidentally, I'm not yelling atyou....just emphasizing my own shades of heartbreak.

13. I feel your pain...
I admit that I am relatively fortunate to have 3 out of the 4 big ones for our home teams.

Most of my heartbreak has had little to do with professional sports.
