The danger of singing Christmas Carols with a 6 year old. |
|
Edited on Wed Dec-15-04 02:02 PM by mzmolly
After a rousing verson of "Silent Night" my daugther had questions.
6 y/o daughter lastnight: "Mom, what's a virgin" ?
Me: Well, uhm ... it's a person who uhm, never married er, uhm ...
Daughter: Oh, so Aunt so and so is a virgin then ? Me: Well, it's late, we'll talk about it tomorrow.
I almost went into a speech about how I don't personally subscribe to the Virgin Birth thing, but thought it best to wait. ;)

5. Frankly, I'm hoping she forgets. She's on to asking about eggs today |
|
today.
"Mom, is this an egg that a hen laid?"
Me: "Yes"
6 y/o: "But, how'd they get the chick out and put the egg all back together again?"

3. I had almost the same reaction |
|
the other night - after seeing a Methodist church commercial use the word, my 7 y/o daughter asked me what does 'sexy' mean. I finally had to distill is down to feeling good about yourself. After a lot umms and uhhs...

I got stuck explaining the facts of life to my two daughters while stuck in traffic following fourth of july fireworks. I was pregnant with their brother and they knew I had a baby in my belly. They were 6 and 7 and it occurred to the older one to ask, "But, mom, how did the baby get IN your belly?" :silly:
That was an excruciating traffic jam...
Oh, and their reactions to my explanation -
older daughter - "that's interesting" younger daughter - "no, it's not! It's gross!"

7. I told my dd when she was 4 and asked, "daddy planted a seed in my tummy" |

she was fine with that, thank goodness.
I fear what's coming though. ;)

6. LOL! Well, when I was a kid, I thought there was only 1 virgin |
|

"The Virgin Mary" I thought it was a title, you know like "Christ"
So when I was asked by a boy in the 6th grade if I was a virgin, I was confused and said, "no".

:hi:
I only wish I hadn't corrected her jumbled incorrect version of the song, in which she replaced: "Round yon Virgin Mother and Child" with something like: "roundja beerjin moda an chiel" :P
Remind me never to correct her again!

11. Then there's that famous incident |
|
In which my son, age about 10, told me that, "sometimes I like playing with my friends but other times, I just like playing with myself."
Try to keep a straight face through THAT!

When I was six I thought the word was "birchant". I had no idea what that word meant, either... :-)

That's pretty funny.
And of course, non-Christmas carols were just as bad. I'm pretty sure I had about half the words wrong on "The Star Spangled Banner"!
