2004 - did it suck or not?
We're close to year's end (well, 16 days from now), so I thought I'd just ask what you thought overall of this year.

For me, overall? Suck.

That alone makes 2004 suck. At least to me it does.

On a national level - massive suckage, just like 2000, 2001, 2002, and 2003.

11. Personally -
It was a pretty good year in that I am employed, have health care, a roof over my head, plenty to eat, I'm healthy and I haven't died.

It sucked for the country and democracy.......and the world seems like its spinning out of control.

12. Helping w/ the Kerry/Edwards was great...
But personally it sucked big time for me and my family - 2 car accidents, and 3 surguries for me. Glad to see this year end, just wish 2005 started out w/ President Kerry in office!

26. The Bush part sucked, the Barak Obama coming to our attention part
that - failed to suck.

The Clinton having a heart attack part, that sucked. The Jim McDermott getting re-elected handily part, -failed to suck.

The 42 votes separating a Republican governor of this state from a Democratic governor of this state, - that sucked. The last minute cash to fund a recount, that - fails to suck.

The cost of living increase, - sucks. The fact that DU now has groups and the cooking group has a bunch of economical tips on running a household, - fails to suck.

29. This has been the absolute
WORST year in my 66 years. And to cap it off my mother died last Friday. The only good news that we've had all year came yesterday when the doctor told us that I had no new arterial blockages in my heart. With atherosclerosis that is good news.

30. Election sucked, but I got to go to Venice (IT) on business
not a trip I could afford on my own (especially with a plummeting dollar). Plus I finally got a bottom-to-top tour or Arizona (cheaply) with my S.O., courtesy of air miles and hotel points. My first week-long vacation in years.

On the other hand, I was in a clinical depression from Nov 3 on, and I cringe with every reported invasion death (US Serviceperson or Iraqi).

31. Good and Bad
Good - meeting new friends, more active politically, watching my son grow up

Bad - election, direction of American policies, war, loss of inocence for too many, people you thought you knew turn out to be contrary to what you believed

32. For the country? It was a super-sucker.
Personally? A whole lot of suckiness, but a lot of bright spots, too. I wouldn't say it's ending in a better place than it started -- but it's ending in a radically different place, and that's something...

35. Well, for us Democrats.
It sucked because we didn't win (or, did we...)

but it was good because we showed the world that we were here and not to be taken lightly. Did any of us seriously think we would do this well in the elections or become this visible in every day affairs?

Remember in 2002, when articles came out predicting * would carry all 50 states?

Personally? I've had my ups and downs, but it's ending on a definite upswing. :)

37. For me, financially, it did not suck. But politically, emotionally, and
personally it sucked big time because we have been saddled with that Nazi for another 4 years. I spent the whole year breathlessly waiting, waiting, for that bum to be shown the door...and the fuck gets back in!!!

40. It sucked a little
For some obvious reasons-
Kerry lost.
The war in Iraq. So many people died.
The economy is still bad.
I'm paying way too much for gas.

But for other reasons it was pretty good.

I'm still alive.
I still have a job.
I have a wonderful family and group of friends.
I have a boyfriend who loves me and I love him.
